TAKING CARE OF YOUR JEWELRY
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR JEWELRY:
Avoid jewelry dip cleaners for pieces with a black patina since some dips will remove this.
The most economical way to clean is using toothpaste or baking soda applied with a soft cloth or rubbed on by hand and rinsed off with water and patted dry.
This way of cleaning will leave micro scratches on the surface of pieces that are high polished.
Your best option is a professional jewelers red rouge cloth (my favorite which you can order online) with the red side for cleaning and the flannel side for polishing. We also carry the new European formula blue silver cleaning cloth which is the best for the toughest cleaning jobs.
WEARING IT KEEPS IT SHINY:
Wearing your jewelry is the best way to keep it shiny since any tarnish will rub off by touching your skin or clothes. Tarnish is a thin film that builds up due to oxides in the air or from the sunlight. Swimming pools, household cleansers and showering with soap and water can also cause this. It is best if you remove your jewelry before these activities.
When storing your jewelry for a long time, keep it in an air tight jewelry box or place in an air tight zip lock plastic bag away from direct sunlight.
