Maris Fine jewelry is hand crafted in Toronto and the price of each piece reflects the skill and labour involved in its creation. The hallmark on the piece guarantees the purity of the jewelry. We are very excited about our high quality jewelry and we know you will be as well.
Though many people use "sterling" and "silver" interchangeably, this isn't 100% accurate. Silver is an element that occurs naturally in the earth and in pure form is generally too soft for practical use. "Sterling" stamped on a piece means it meets U.S. and Canadian government standards for solid silver (92.5% silver and 7.5% of another alloy, such as copper, added for strength). The ".925" mark also designates sterling silver. Silverplate is a combination of base metal, such as brass, with a plating of pure silver bonded in an electrolytic process. Vermeil, a common jewelry term, means sterling silver jewelry electroplated with at least 1/20 millionths of an inch of karat gold.
Storing your jewelry in a felt pouch or zip lock plastic bag will help prevent tarnish and protect it from scratches. A natural property of sterling silver is that the metal, when exposed to air will tarnish, more so with some peoples body oils than others. Water will not harm silver, just be sure to wipe it dry. DO NOT USE any liquid dip cleaner or an ultrasonic cleaner. Both of these processes may remove the patina (the blackened areas) on your jewelry. A jewelry polishing cloth may be used for cleaning.

Symbols have had both international and universal meanings for centuries. These images that are created affect all of us on one level or another. They stir common feelings or memories in everyone who sees them. Symbol meanings enter the subconscious and usually surpass the general rational of the conscious mind.
Most cultures throughout history have used symbols as a stepping-stone to "the memories of the soul". These images and symbols were to have thought to be the key to unlock the doors to higher understanding or oneness with the universe. It is important to look to the images themselves and the coinciding meanings behind them, so our goal is to be your link to the symbolic legends of past to present.
Some of these symbols have been found as early as 1500 B.C. and research into the meaning follows the hypothesis that the basic elements were originally magical symbols related to the Deities of an Agrarian culture.
KRUSTAKRUSTS - crossed cross was highly regarded as the cross of crosses.
MARA ZIME - mother of the sea and water and dates back to the stone age.
AUSTRAS KOKS - lifetree which celebrates the dawn.
MENESIS - cresent moon which is the protector or warriors.
ZALKTIS - serpent is significantly connected with general well being.
ZVAIGZNE - cross - hatched star is the protector of people at night.
LAIMA - luck wisher who is the goddess of destiny and prosperity.
Note: All our work is handmade and variations may occur (the symbols on the charms will vary and this variation contributes to the uniqueness of its design).
